In today’s high technology society, an organization having a strong social media presence is essential to expand their impact, build community, and attract potential sponsors. Nonprofits especially rely on social media to share their mission, highlight success stories, and engage with supporters in significant ways. The purpose of this analysis is to look into the potential Instagram presence of Mentors That Inspired. By the end, the goal is to provide guidance on how the organization can create meaningful content by drawing inspiration from other successful nonprofits and relevant scholarly research.

Mentors That Inspired is a nonprofit organization providing a wellness center to women, offering meditation, coaching, psychological support, and financial guidance. The organization’s goal is to transform women’s lives from inside out by reconnecting them to their strength after a crisis. Currently, Mentors That Inspired has minimal media presence with a website being their only digital footprint. Without any social media presence, the organization is missing valuable opportunities. To achieve effective and meaningful content, Mentors That Inspired should base its content around three categories: content that calls on the community to action, amplify the voices of the women the organization serves, and educational content.

A strong example of successful Instagram content from a nonprofit organization comes from the Center Black Women’s Wellness. This organization focuses on providing quality education and healthcare to women in the Metro Atlanta area. Center Black Women’s Wellness Instagram account features a variety of educational content, such as the post shown on the left. Posts like this are constructive because the organization has the potential to reach other women in need and the chance to grow as an organization. As shown, the featured post provides detailed information about a free clinic for people without insurance. When it comes to educational content, its important to be clear on the message being conveyed and the information the reader needs. Mentors That Inspired can be guided by this and create content on the importance of wellness and how to start the journey of healing.

Another powerful example of a nonprofit’s Instagram presence is Realuplift, whose mission is to support to women and children in crisis. Realuplift Instagram is especially meaningful because the organization highlights success stories of past grant recipients and how it enriched their lives. Content like this allows the viewer to connect with Realuplift’s mission on a deeper level and understand the positive impact the organization has on the community. Mentors That Inspired can take inspiration from Realuplift’s content and highlight their own success stories to showcase the importance of the organization.

The third category of effective and meaningful content is calling the community to action. A perfect example of this comes from the Instagram account of the nonprofit organization Global Fund For Women, which supports gender justice movements in hopes of creating meaningful change. The organization’s Instagram content is centered on education and urging viewers to take action on global issues. One post from June of this year, calls on followers to donate to help fuel grassroots feminist movements in over 80 countries. In the caption, the post highlights that due to funding cuts, feminist movements around the world are in dire need of resources. Content like this encourages followers to take action, whether that’s donating, volunteering, or sharing the organization’s mission with others. Mentors That Inspired can use this format by emphasizing that even the smallest contribution can make a significant impact on someone’s life.
